Fabené Welch SVP & Chief Legal Advisor

Welch Fabene-bioFabené is Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Advisor of EnerVest, Ltd. Prior to joining EnerVest in February 2008, she was a Partner at Haynes and Boone, LLP.

Fabené has held several leadership positions with the State Bar of Texas Oil, Gas and Energy Resources Law Section, serving as Chair for the 2010-11 term. She also was Chair of the Houston Bar Association’s Oil, Gas and Mineral Law Section and served as President and Director of the Houston Producer’s Forum.

A committed supporter of the arts in Houston, Fabené has been involved with numerous local organizations including the Houston Arts Alliance (HAA), where she has held the positions of President and Vice-President of the Board of Directors. She currently serves on the Advisory Council of HAA; the Business Volunteers for the Arts; and the Board of the Houston Center for Contemporary Crafts. 

In addition to her professional and cultural affiliations, she is a Senior Fellow, Class XXVII, of the American Leadership Forum.

Fabené received her Bachelor of Arts from Rice University, majoring in French and Spanish. She earned her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center where she was Managing Editor of the Houston Law Review. She is board certified in Oil, Gas and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and has published and presented on topics relating to oil, gas and energy resources law.
